The World Championship is here! 16 top teams, one epic fight for the gold in Northern Europe. Who will rise as the world’s best?
The ice is set, the nations are ready, and the fans are gearing up — the 2025 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship is back and promises another thrilling edition of international hockey action! Running from May 9 to May 25, this year's tournament will be co-hosted by Stockholm, Sweden, and Herning, Denmark, bringing world-class hockey to two passionate hockey nations.
The championship will be split between two top-tier venues:
Avicii Arena in Stockholm, Sweden (Group A games, quarterfinals, semifinals, and medal matches)
Jyske Bank Boxen in Herning, Denmark (Group B games, quarterfinals)
These cities have hosted major international hockey events in the past, and both are ready to deliver an electric atmosphere once again.
Sixteen of the world’s top hockey nations have been divided into two groups of eight for the preliminary round:

Each team plays 7 round-robin games within their group. The top 4 teams from each group will move on to the quarterfinals, while the last-place team in each group will be relegated to Division I for the following year.
